Aeon MIRA 5: what an upgrade!

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I recently got an upgraded laser: the Aeon Mira 5.

I decided to go with the 5 instead of the larger models because I live in a small house and I don’t typically do large projects. For accessories, wall art, and rotary capabilities, this laser is the perfect size for what I plan to use it for. It is just slightly bigger than the Glowforge, but the 12x20 sheets of material that I have on hand work perfectly for both lasers.

Aeon boasts a large selection of industrial lasers, and I truly did not fully grasp how powerful and fast these machines were until I was able to see them in action and get my hands on one. Engraving projects that would have taken me probably 4 hours to complete on my first laser now take 45 minutes. I’ve engraved an entire sheet in less than an hour, something my glowforge would not even load without timing out.

At 300 speed, I can engrave a full 20oz 9” tumbler in less than half an hour. For less complex wrapping designs, it can be as quick as 10 to 15 minutes. For a name, it can be even faster than that. For context, a 3” ornament engraved on my glowforge took 8 minutes. A 10” round with a full pattern took at least an hour. This will not only increase my productivity but also my profit margins.

I have so much more to learn and experiment with but it has been so fun to learn my Mira so far. While I will always love my glowforge, and I am beyond grateful to the start it gave to my laser business, I’m so excited about my Mira and the possibilities and doors that has opened for me. I can’t wait to dive in and learn even more!!
